I can barely take my eyes off him, therefore crafting, cleaning, cooking, etc. has been suffering.  However, this past weekend my hubby and I spent one whole day cleaning and organizing the basement.  I was able to get some stuff done that I have been thinking about for awhile.

I hung up some chicken wire on an empty wall.  I quickly hung some pictures using clothes pins.  In the future I want to use it for projects I am working on and maybe as a pin board.  To the right I used some embroidery hoops to add some color.  The one in the middle I used fabric and lace that I got from a vintage curtain.

Don’t judge me mind the shadow.  I haven’t picked up my camera in months.

I also got to display the vintage sewing machine a family member gave to me over a year ago.  I love it!

I also hung up the garland that my bestie made for my baby shower.  I had half-assed hung it up before, but this time it’s staying.  Also if you look up top I have framed vintage magazine ads that I bought for like 25 cents at a flea market.  I should’ve take better close-ups but I was down there during nap time.

Finally, I had forgotten about these shelf liners I snagged at Marshall’s a while back.  It took me 10 minutes to cover my Target cabinet that stores my collection of fabric.  I’ll have to buy some more for the cabinet to the right.  Too bad my hubby and dad put it together upside down.  It doesn’t even close.  But, I can’t complain, as I wasn’t even in the room when they made it.

I hope to be able to craft some more in the last months of my maternity leave.  But don’t be surprised if another 5 months creep by me with out crafting a thing.

I am lucky enough to be able to stay home with him until next school year.  I can’t believe Mike and I created such a gorgeous little baby.

Luckily, we have a photographer in the family so get ready to see many pictures of Holden.  My brother-in-law Scott has taken millions of pictures, including his amazing birth announcement.  Before I reveal his amazing announcement, I will show some of the pictures that didn’t make the final cut.

Clearly he wasn’t loving this photo shoot, but there ended up being a lot of great ones.  With help from a vision from Mommy, Holden’s Aunts Melissa and Jen and their quick hands, patience from Uncle Scott, and then Daddy just playing around, we ended up with this amazing announcement.

Don’t you just want to eat him up?

The happy and beautiful couple walking down the aisle.  Aren’t they the most gorgeous couple you ever did see?

They got married at the Museum of Natural History, so some of the pictures are incredible.

I was in charge of adding to the decor and making some cake pops with an animal theme.  It was fun, but a lot of work.  We only had a day and a half to finish them, and the baby inside my belly doesn’t like his mama to work too hard.  Luckily I had some help from my amazing family.

We used lots of materials, and had something like an assembly line going.  When we were all done, my dad and hubby transported them across town.

At the reception, they were placed in this awesome display my sister in law made.

I heard they were delicious.  I didn’t get a chance to try them.  I’m so glad I was able to make these for this extremely special day for my family.

My very favorite crafty friend made these amazing letters for Baby K.  I needed a spot for them.  So I used this awesome fabric my sister-in-law bought for me and covered a metal board I’ve had collecting dust.  I’ll probably also hang some cards and pictures there as well.

On this cluttered shelf are the bookends I waited to go on sale for months.  Now I’m just waiting for the bookshelf to be built.  I have pictures that my friend Norma took of my baby bump that will eventually get hung up.  The lamp in the background I made using some grey and yellow fabric which is apparently super obscure.

I love this owl that my friend Morgan made for me for my shower.  Everyone put their thumbprint around it and signed their names in their print.  I love that my son will know how loved he was before he even entered the world by looking at this amazing picture.

Some fun prints I ordered online.  I think they look adorable.

I got some vintage embroidery hoops and put some fun fabric inside.  We left room in the middle for the baby’s name.

I hung this above the changing table.  It looks amazing!

5 more weeks to go.  In no rush though.

These ladies are incredibly amazing!!!!

Here are some pictures of just some of the amazingness (yes I made up a word) from one of the most special days I have ever had.

Look at this handmade owl.  Everyone that attended put their finger print and their name in it.  It is already hanging in Baby K’s nursery.

Some delicious Grouchy Ladybug cake pops.  My friends spent days on it.  Damn good…and it was their first time ever!

My friends hard at word crafting.  They were making an alphabet book, the bottoms of socks with puffy paint, and baby wishes.  And look at the garland on the right.  Hand cut and sewn.

What a fantastic day.  I will never forget it as long as I live.

And one more thing…This crazy girl made me the most incredible gift.

My very favorite children’s book of all times has been out of print for almost as long as I have been alive.  She found it on Amazon and created this picture to hang in the baby’s room.  My very handy sister-in-law and not so handy-ish hubby hung it up immediately.  Check it out.

I cannot even express in words the gratitude I have for everyone that made this day so special.  My baby boy is so loved and he still has 9 more weeks to grow.  xo

My bro, hubby and I worked till about 1 AM making a whole bunch of desserts.  We made candy corn-ish marshmallows on a stick, chocolate dipped pretzels, jello mold with worms, chocolate dipped strawberries and a family favorite that my mom calls Guru Goodies.

These were the “favors” that we made also.  Rice Krispy Treat candy corns.  They were delicious!  I did attempt to make Rice Krispy pops, but they were a nightmare.  I was way too rushed to do something like that.

The happy couple, dressed for the occasion, enjoyed the shower.

And the whole family really had a nice time being all together.  As you can see, some were way into dressing for the occasion.  Unfortunately, I think I was the only one not too into it.  My costume was very lame, but I got enough glances because of my growing belly.

Oh one more thing.  You want to know what I did with the funky stockings?  This was probably my favorite decoration.

Sorry I have been MIA, just been tired and growing.  Hopefully more in the next few months.

We are having a BABY!

I am 18 and a half weeks, and my baby is the size of a bell pepper.

I have managed to make a few things this summer.  I got a few gifts and wanted to show my gratitude.  I couldn’t find one card I liked, so I made my own.

Now my goal is to get the nursery decorated before the big day.  It will be a challenge but I am up for it.  Nothing but the best for my little man.  xo

If you know me, you might know that I change my earrings as often as I buy a new car.  But now I have a pretty place for all my spares.

I accepted.  And all was going great until my cricut decided to go nuts.  It definitely does not like fabric.  At first it cut the fabric fine.

Once we changed the fabric the cricut went crazy.  The fabric bunched up and the blade was unable to cut the fabric correctly.  We tried everything.  I spent lots of time manually cutting, scraping, and trying not to pull out my hair.

And after about 5 hours,  we had a giant mess and only 4 items done.
So, when I woke up this morning I did some “cricut cutting fabric” research and found some tips.  One of the tips was to use spray starch on the fabric before attaching it to the heat n bond.  My hubby reluctantly excitedly ran to the store to buy me some on the double.  Once I tried this it definitely made the fabric stiffer and a bit easier to manage, but the cricut still had trouble cutting through it.  I am absolutely open for more suggestions.  I feel like I have tried everything.  I have finished 12 items today…only half way done.  So…hopefully by the time we work on the rest, I will be an expert fabric cricut cutter.

So my bro and sis-in-laws destination wedding was last weekend.  Here is what the welcome bags looked like when they vomited were all over my craft corner floor.  They looked much cuter by the pool.  Hope you likey.
